From Vail, Co originally, generations of Jon's family were skiers, inventors and mining engineers from the Telluride and Winter Park area where his pop ski-patrolled. At 5 yrs old Jon was taught Alpine Downhill during years the Vail Ski School was formed -- by Horst Abrahms (skiing hall of famer). His family is now in Sun Valley, Idaho. Jon taught skiing during initial college years, continued with goals in Alpine style mountaineering in CO, then moved to CA after pursuing Liberal Arts & Engineering at University of Colorado at Boulder. He graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts after transferring from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo to San Francisco Art Institute, and became soley an Architectural and Landscape Photographer for 25 years based in SF, CA. He teaches and enjoys sailing in the Summer and skiing in the Winter, if not raising his 3 kiddos. His fave resort area is the sheltered trees of Homewood, still running lifts in a snowstorm, and when it clears for stunning views front-seat to Lake Tahoe. He'll keep you out of the back-seat when riding!

Jon really knew his stuff. He was great at explaining and demonstrating technique. He was also very kind, asking what we expected and wasn't pushy. It was nice of him to show up 30 min early and help my kids get their equipment fitted. He also finished past our alloted time when my kids begged for one more run down the mountain! He has lots of energy to keep my children occupied, even making a snow man with them and having an epic snowball fight. Mom got some tips but i also got to do a few runs by myself, knowing my kiddos were in capable hands. I definitely recommend Jon!
